Beginning Classes
Novice I - $160 + one time $25 registration fee
This is a 6 week introductory class that will teach the general history of fencing as a sport as well as the basics of fencing - footwork, bladework, and an introduction to bouting. The focus will be on developing the basic techniques to allow the student to fence against an opponent. Games will be used to introduce some concepts. Fitness and warm up will be emphasized during every session. There will be a mini competition during the last session of the class. Certificates will be awarded to all participants - all equipment is provided for this class. Fencers should wear comfortable work out clothes and gym shoes.
Novice II - $160
This 6 week class will expand the ideas introduced in Novice I. The footwork and bladework will become more advanced and emphasis will be on cleaner and smoother actions. As the focus shifts to competitive bouting the students will become more comfortable hitting one another. Again, a mini competition will be held on the last day of class. All equipment is provided for this class. Fencers should wear comfortable work out clothes and gym shoes.
Intermediate - $120/month
This is an on going 1 1/2 hour class to improve on the bladework and footwork from Novice I and II . The goal is to learn to adapt the technique of fencing into a competitive bout. Large portions of the class time will be devoted to actually bouting or drills for competitive fencing. This class is for students who may not yet be ready to join the pre-elite or open fencing but who wish to progress to those levels or want to stay at a recreational level. Purchase of basic fencing gear ($220) is required.
